This compilation cassette focuses on the Deir Ez Zor governorate, presenting eight songs by eight different artists from the region. Each performer delivers a lively, contemporary rendition of a traditional Deiri song, layered over a mix of Syrian and Iraqi rhythms. Released in 1996, the cassette is marked by its dynamism, driven in part by the varied vocal timbres of the eight singers, and in part from the shared structure of the tracks, which sees each performer beginning with a slow mawwal before smoothly transitioning into festive dabke or choubi.
