More Info

This cassette features a collection of songs by Lebanese singer Dalal Shamali (born 1941). Shamali began her artistic career singing on Jordanian and Syrian radio. In 1959, she visited Cairo, where she recorded numerous songs for Voice of the Arabs Radio. Her first song, Khod Wuddi, was composed by Ali Ismail and broadcast on Egyptian radio. Initially, she released only a few songs due to challenges, including competition with singers such as Samira Tawfiq and Salwa Al-As. Seeking greater opportunities, she moved to Damascus, where she settled and launched a career focused on singing Syrian national songs. Among her notable works is the song Mn Qasioun Aoutil Ya Watani, dedicated to Damascus. Throughout her career, she performed many beautiful folkloric and patriotic songs in both Syria and Jordan. Shamali also performed on radio stations in Damascus, Baghdad, Jerusalem, and Beirut. She appeared in several films, including Taht Samaa Al Madina and Ariyat Bila Khatiaa, alongside Fahad Ballan. Additionally, she performed in numerous concerts in Egypt, including a notable 1961 concert at the Zamalek Club, headlined by Farid Al Atrache and Sabah.
