More Info

A collection of songs by the late Syrian artist Faten El Hennawi, who was the younger sister of the famed singer Mayada Faten El Hennawi, and began her singing career in the late 1970s. Faten El Hennawi sang for many poets and composers, most notably the late Syrian composer Riyad Al-Bayk, who composed for her the famous poem Badawi al-Jabal, known as Ya Man Saqana Kuus Al Hajer (O, You Who Gave Us the Cups of Separation), a song that brought her widespread fame. She was renowned for her strong and masterful renditions of Umm Kulthum's songs. She was also known for her extensive repertoire, including Beni W Benak Khatwiten – one of the most popular songs in the region in the1980s. Notably, El Hennawi performed numerous songs, particularly poems, with one of her most famous being Baladi Al Sham, alongside the late Wadih al-Safi. El Hennawi retired from the arts in the 1980s at the height of her brilliance. She died in 2007 at the age of 56.
