A collection of invocations, religious praises, and hymns sung by Sheikh Muslim Al Baytar with his group from the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus. Sheikh Muslim Al Baytar (1910-1961) studied under Sheikh Ali Al Kurdi, one of the prominent reciters in Damascus during the 1930s and 1940s, and joined his group during his long career. He would perform on the radio nightly throughout the month of Ramadan, alternating with Tawfiq Al Munajjid and Saeed Farhat. He learned music and composition from Saeed Farhat, Abdul Aal Al Jarsha, and Saleh Al Muhabbak, then formed his own recitation group, making several tours with them in Arab countries and composing with them for various religious occasions. Al Baytar and his group recorded nearly thirty poems for Syrian radio, in addition to several recordings of the call to prayer. Throughout his career, Al Baytar composed over seventy works including muwashshahs, invocations, and poems. His distinguished career was marked by the sincerity and spirituality he brought to his performances.
