A Compilation featuring operettas from classic films by Syrian artist Farid Al Atrache (1917-1947) A Syrian-Egyptian musician, singer, and actor, Farid Al Atrache was born in Suweida in Syria. Farid left clear imprints in Arabic music and singing and is regarded as one of the great artistic icons in the Arab world. He was the recipient of the honorable Order of the Nile award – Egypt's highest state honor. Al Atrache sang the lyrics of many poets from his time, such as Ahmad Rami and Bayram Al Tunsi. He also composed for a number of male and female Arab artists, the most famous of whom are: Asmahan, Fahed Ballan, Warda Al-Jazairia, and Wadih El Safi. Al Atrache died in Beirut following a heart attack in 1977.
