A Collection of rare songs from Syrian artist Asmahan (1912-1944) Asmahan's real name was Amal Al-Atarache – the sister of musician and composer Farid Al-Atarache, who took her hand and led her into the world of the arts, becoming a brilliant singing star. Amal's vocal talent was discovered at an early age, when she sang the compositions of Mohamed El Qasabgi and Zakariya Ahmad, Mohammed Abdel Wahab and her brother Farid Al-Atarache. In 1941 she starred in her first film, Intisar Al-Shabab with the participation of her brother Farid. Asmahan rose to fame quickly with her powerful, yet agile passionate voice. She was one of the first Arab singers to use the classical Western technique with the distinctive ability to combine it with Oriental singing. Asmahan died in 1944 in Egypt under circumstances that remain mysterious until now.
