More Info
One of the cherished items in our archive, this tape presents a studio album by the Armenian-Aleppo band Ramaya released in the early 1990s. The album is skillfully constructed, beginning with the song Kol El Banat Btehebak (All Girls Love You) which easily captures the listener, and delivers them to a series of Egyptian pop songs and Aleppo heritage, arranged in a hybrid manner combining eastern and western instruments. An enjoyable tape from the first listen, and tempting for repeated listening. The Armenian-Aleppo band Ramaya was active mainly during the 1980s and 1990s, known for using instruments such as electric guitar and synthesizer in addition to oriental instruments, and for performing hit songs from that era. The band collaborated with different singers in their releases, such as singers Nazo and George Al Halabi, in addition to singer Abek with whom they collaborated on this tape. Some sources indicate that the band continued to perform during the 2000s, both inside and outside Syria.
