More Info
On this live recording, we listen to Al Ahmad engaging in a musical dialogue with female singer Hala Ghannam. The cassette captures the essence of the Syrian shaabi sound from the early-to-mid 90's, recorded straight-to-cassette from the mixing board, and features keyboards, electronic percussion and some highly-charged electric bozouk playing. Faisal Al Ahmad started singing in the late 1990s, and was known for writing and composing his own songs. He released many full-length albums, that showcased his ability to perform Halabi mawals with a strong and capable voice. However, he spent most of his career performing shaabi and dabke at cafeterias and private parties.
