More Info
On this lively cassette, we listen to the most famous works of two Iraqi artists – Salah Hasan and Sabah Mahmoud, with each side of the tape dedicated to one of them. Salah Hasan comes from an artistic family that encouraged him to pursue singing professionally. His brother, Ahmed Hasan, composed many of his songs. He began his artistic career with his first song Ruhi Al Hazina (My Sad Soul), debuting on a radio broadcast in 1989. Salah was mentored by the musician Raed George, and became known for his melodies and lyrics with a romantic tone, while also incorporating traditional songs into his repertoire. Sabah Mahmoud began his artistic career through performing at local concerts. He initially performed qudud and shaabi songs before transitioning to a romantic style.
