More Info

This live cassette presents a recording of a wedding celebration in Aleppo, performed by the Hama-born singer Issa Naous, accompanied by predominantly electronic arrangements. The cassette derives its enjoyment from its varied moods, as it slows down to build atmosphere then accelerates to excite the dancers, moving smoothly between attaba, dal'ona, and shaabi styles with the fluidity of a seasoned singer. Issa Naous hails from the town of Deir Shamil in western rural Hama. He began his career performing Mawwals and Ataba with a warm, sweet voice at private parties and weddings, before recording and releasing his own songs and albums, including "La Tenghashi Ya Flaneh" which became a cornerstone of Syrian folk archive and attracted millions of listens online, helping Issa achieve considerable fame that made him sought after to perform at music festivals in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq.
