Said Darwish is considered one of the most prominent artists in the history of Arab music, and a symbol of artistic renaissance in the early twentieth century. Born in 1892 in Alexandria, he was influenced from an early age by the artistic and cultural environment that surrounded him. He is considered one of the founders of modern music in Egypt, and his songs reflected the feelings of different groups in Egyptian society. He composed a large number of songs and plays that contributed to shaping Egypt's artistic identity. Among his most famous songs are Bahlam Ya Masr (I Dream, Egypt) and Dayat mustaabal hayati (I Wasted My Future) which are available on this cassette.
