There is very little information out there about singer Lama Al-Furatia from Deir Ez Zor. Though she had a brief musical career in the late 1990s and early 2000s, it remains somewhat of a mystery. However, this live recording finds her singing several distinctive songs that perfectly express the musical heritage of Deir Ez Zor and the region of the eastern Euphrates in Syria. She is accompanied here by electrified kamanja (violin), synthesizer and percussion.
