George Wassouf's resounding success in the 1990s sparked the "child prodigy" trend, and recording companies in Syria searched for and tried to adopt the next child prodigy. The trend extended to Lebanon and Iraq as well, and here we listen to a cassette from the early 1990s featuring Iraqi child singer Oras, who like many child stars from that era, later disappeared without a trace. Nevertheless, Oras left behind, in this single tape of his in our archive, songs that he managed to etch in our memory with his melodious, undulating, addictive voice.
