More Info

Over a carpet of rhythmic keyboard loops and dabke beats, the duo Mohammad Bennishi and Hala Ghannam perform a series of songs and ataba dialogues, in one of several collaborations that brought them together during their careers. Mohammad Bennishi is considered one of the most important shaabi artists in the city of Idlib, who became famous for presenting different types of shaabi songs such as ataba, souaihly, and mawwal, becoming a source of pride for families who are able to book him to sing at their weddings and celebrations. Hala Ghannam comes from the Syrian coastal region according to the introduction of one of our archive tapes. The internet preserves several concerts of hers, most of which consist of ataba dialogues with other singers, especially Faisal Al Ahmad and Mohammad Bennishi.
