More Info

Mofeed Al Sheikh is known for his unhurried style and his focus on methodically building the mood throughout his performances and cassette recordings. He often begins with slow ataba or mawal introductions and long instrumental segments, as if casting a spell on his listeners and taking hold of their mood, before gradually raising the energy and leading them into a state of tarab. The earliest online documentation recordings of the Hama-born singer date back to the mid-1990s, when he entered the Syrian shaabi scene, specializing in ataba and dabke. He has maintained a strong presence ever since, and can still be booked for weddings and private events via his manager’s Facebook page.
