Ahlam's career officially began in 1995, and throughout the second half of the nineties she maintained a pace of releasing one album per year, here we listen to the fifth of these albums released in 1999. Despite her recent career, Ahlam was pushing the boundaries of Gulf pop a mile forward with each new release, cementing alongside other pioneers in Gulf music the role of Gulf pop as one of the most prolific, widely listened to, and masterful branches of Arab pop. The album Tabi'ee (Normal) presents a journey in musical arrangement ranging from at times and dynamic pulsing at others, and in Ahlam's wide vocal range which excels in performing different types of pop as if she specializes in each one of them.
