More Info

Since the end of the tarab era in the seventies, different Arab countries and regions began developing their own post-tarab music, with Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, the Gulf, and the Maghreb taking different directions. However, by the beginning of the nineties, the sounds of each of these schools began to mature and exchange sources of inspiration with each other, with parts of them beginning to merge under the name of Arab pop. This tape includes a collection from the first generation of Arab pop, with contributions from Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and Tunisia, lacking only representatives from the Gulf.
