More Info
This tarab-mood tape with complete oriental takht arrangements features Iraqi singer Hameed Mansour, including a collection of his most famous songs, like his immortal Salamat which opens the tape. The song was written for him by poet Kadhem Al Rubaie and composed by Abdul Hussein Al Samawi, becoming one of the most requested songs during his concerts. Born in 1945, Iraqi singer Hameed Mansour entered the spotlight in the seventies, presenting a large collection of Iraqi and shaabi songs with his warm, melodious voice. His concerts toured various Arab countries, but Syria received the largest share of his performances. His arrival to any Syrian city for a concert would mark the beginning of a series of rituals and celebrations honoring his presence, as was the case in the city of Salamiyah in rural Hama. After a career spanning about half a century, Hameed Mansour announced his retirement in 2024 coinciding with his reaching the age of eighty, with his final concert taking place in Canada.
