The band Gomidas collaborated on this album with singer Garo, who appears in our archive or on the internet only through his collaborations with the band, making him something of an auxiliary member. The album includes traditional Aleppian songs like Kint Bi Zamani and Ayel Mani Ayel, presented with contemporary arrangements rich with keyboards, highly consistent with the band music that spread across the Arab region in the 1980s. Gomidas Band was formed in Aleppo by a group of Syrian Armenian artists in the early 1990’s. With a rich legacy of studio-recorded albums and live performances, Gomidas have gained popularity inside and outside Syria, and are still active today.
