More Info

One of the most beautiful Kurdish music tapes in our archive, veteran singer Abdulkader Suleiman performs a collection of Kurdish songs with the experience of an artist who has sung for fifty years and released 100 tapes, using his voice economically and leaving his listener wanting more. He is accompanied by refreshing and elegant string and rhythmic arrangements that satisfyingly fill the long and numerous singing breaks in the tape. Born in the village of Hilaliya near the city of Qamishli in rural Hassake, and descended from an artistic family famous for performing at celebrations in the Syrian Jazira region, Abdulkader Suleiman was one of the most prominent Kurdish singers in Syria. His career spanned fifty years since 1970, during which he left, according to one source, more than 100 recorded tapes distributed across different types of Kurdish music such as Kurmanji and Sheikhani. He left Syria as a refugee to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in 2011, and passed away there in 2023 after six years of suffering from hemiplegia.
