More Info
An hour of traditional Levantine and Mediterranean music accompanied by mijwiz player Ali Shuqair. The recordings appear to be derived, as suggested by the tape cover, from wedding ceremonies in Baalbek, eastern Lebanon. In the tape, we hear Al Ein Molayteen, which is originally an Iraqi song whose lyrics were changed when it traveled to the Levant and spread specifically in Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria. Its original name is Ala Ein Molayti wa Tnash Molaya. The first side of the tape appears to be cut off to two minutes for some reason. Lebanese musician Ali Shuqair is known for his impressive performance on Eastern instruments, specifically those common in the Bedouin areas such as the shababa, maqrouna, and simsimiyya.
