More Info
This tape includes Shami arada (Wedding Songs), folk songs, and Islamic nasheeds by one of Damascus's most prominent religious singers, Imad Rami. Born in Damascus in 1962, Imad Muwaffaq Shakhashiro, known professionally as Imad Rami, is considered one of the most prominent contemporary Syrian religious singers. Imad is known for his innovation in the world of religious chanting, being one of the pioneers in using music videos for religious nasheeds since the 1990s. He has performed Islamic nasheeds, patriotic songs about Palestine, traditional and tarab songs, and has sung poems written by both his father Muwaffaq Shakhashiro and his son Muwaffaq Imad Al Din. He released at least one recording annually throughout most of his career and remains active in Damascus where he lives today.
