More Info

A tape that appears to be recorded in a studio by one of the most prominent names in Syrian shaabi music from the late 1990s and 2000s, Othayna Al Ali. The tape is characterized by its loud and flamboyant keyboard, which calms down every time Othayna sings with his nonchelant voice. Othayna opens the cassette with the song Salma, which he borrows its melody from Wafik Habib's Hajar. The Syrian artist Othayna Al Ali was born in the city of Homs. He began his artistic journey from a very young age, playing the oud and composing and writing music independently. He started winning awards early on, becoming the first Talae' champion in oud playing in Syria. He also won the Ornina Award for Best Shaabi Song in 1999 for the song Lamma Hajartini (When You Left Me). He participated in several Arab and international festivals, including the Syrian-European Forum in Bulgaria and the Syrian Song Festival.
