More Info

Mayada El Hennawi was born in Damascus in 1959 and began singing at an early age, participating in children's programs on Syrian television, where she was discovered by composer Mohammed Mohsen. Throughout her career, she performed songs in Egyptian, Syrian, and Lebanese dialects, achieving fame that extended beyond Syria throughout the Arab world. She earned the title 'Neighbor of the Moon', thanks to her powerful, wide-ranging voice and her remarkable ability to perform emotional, moving songs. She collaborated with prominent composers and poets in the Arab region, such as Baligh Hamdi, Mohammed Abdel Wahab, and Nizar Qabbani. On this cassette, we listen to two iconic works from the repertoire of 'The Moon's Neighbor': Elb'oud Nar (Distance is Fire) and Ana Wlla Enta Wlla Min Wlla Ehna Eltnin (Not Me, Not You, Not Anyone, Not Both of Us), each extending for half an hour to occupy an entire side of the tape, accompanied by the sound of the enchanted audience demanding more of both songs in the background of the recording.
