More Info
This cassette features a diverse collection of songs based on the poetry of Syrian poet Shawakh Al-Ahmad, performed by several contemporary artists from the Jazeera region in northeastern Syria at the beginning of the 21st century. Shawakh Al-Ahmad is a Syrian poet born in the northeastern city of Hassake, who wrote his first satirical poem as a child and received great encouragement from his family, until he became one of his region's greatest poets. He possessed a literary style with a distinctive and powerful character, and the subjects he addressed earned him great popularity. We see him tackle various themes such as homeland, love, social conflicts, and humanitarian issues, with his special touch of incorporating his personal experiences. His strong poetic connection with the audience led many artists to want to sing his poems, including Kadim Al-Sahir, Majid Al-Muhandis, and others.
