An hour-long recording featuring different sounds and melodies of the Goldfinch. Cassettes of bird calls were commonly used by merchants to attract the birds for several reasons - one being to sell them in local animal markets. As well, for those who might just enjoy hearing the sounds of the bird. The Goldfinch ('Hasoon' in Arabic) is common across many parts of Syria, and is often invoked in poetry and music The bird’s songs are analogous for a good voice in Syria. For instance, it’s complimentary to tell someone their voice is like that of a goldfinch.
