More Info
The songs on this cassette represent a fine example of Lebanese folk dabke from the past century, most of which have the compositional signature of the Rahbani brothers (Elias and Ziad Rahbani). The Rahbani's presented this style in quite a few of their musicals, whose events would take place in a Lebanese village, accompanied by professional dance groups who performed dabke dances within elaborately designed theatrical sets. The voices of Fairouz, Wadi' al-Safi and Nasri Shams Aldeen accompanied the Rahbani brothers' musical theater and their cooperation continued steadily for decades, despite the hundreds of other voices that worked with them. Most of the songs on this tape are from plays that were presented in the 1960s, such as The Season of Glory and The Person.
