More Info

This cassette, issued by KING Recordings in the early 2000s, includes some of the most famous Syrian artists of Syriac, Assyrian, and Armenian origins, especially those from the Jazeera region, whose artistic careers began in Aleppo, such as Tareq Murad, Michel Barshan, Samer Kabro, and the Gomidas band. While the singers perform traditional songs in Arabic, their diverse ethnic backgrounds remain evident through the singing styles and arrangements. The keyboard-driven compositions approach a pop sound, consistent with the approach we’ve noticed on many King Recordings releases.
