This Hourani compilation features several artists from the southern Syrian city of Suweida performing revered local folk songs – songs which continue to be performed and popularized by contemporary groups today. Side A’s opening track – Dam'i Reddi Seli – bears an urgent and expansive production sound, which is followed by a diverse selection of more minimally produced songs sung with traditional percussion and oud accompaniment.
