More Info
A compilation of songs by Syrian actor and singer Housam Tahseen Baik. Housam Tahseen Baik (1941) is a Syrian actor born in Damascus whose work has spanned theatre, television and cinema. He began his artistic career in the mid-1960s with the Umayya Popular Arts Troupe as a dancer, performer and singer, composing and training its members in dance and song. Baik co-starred with actor Duraid Laham in many plays, including Kask Ya Watan, and ventured into drama through the series Ayam Shamiyya. He developed a unique comedic style starting with the series Aila Set Nojoom. In 2004, Hossam appeared in the famous Levantine series Layali Al-Salihiya, where he performed songs in the style of monologues. Hossam describes himself as a performer and refuses to be labeled as a singer, even though he has written, composed, and sung a number of songs, most notably Natalie, in which he retells his love story for his wife, who shares the same name. Some of the well-known songs he composed include Ana Hawaitak for the late Syrian singer Fahd Ballan and Jayitni Mukhbaia sung by Muwafaq Bahjat. He also created a national musical hymn sung by all Syrians, Ya Biladna Al-Maamoura, followed by the famous song Ya Alamna Lali Bil-Aali.
