This cassette features a collection of songs by Layla Matar, a Lebanese artist who emerged in the mid-1960s. Leila Matar was known for singing 'light music' and became popular with audiences through her performances in Damascus, where she sang in nightclubs. She also made several recordings with Syrian radio. A number of Syrian composers wrote music for her, most notably musician Suheil Arafah, who composed the song La T'etzer W Dallak 'Am Tkbar, and musician Salim Sarwa, who composed the well-known patriotic song Ali Magdek for her.
