More Info
A collection of songs by the artist Fouad Ghazi (1955-2011), a Syrian singer born in the village of Faqrou in the Hama governorate, Syria. Early in his career, he was known as Fouad Faqrou, but he reverted to his real name, Fouad Ghazi, after being accredited by the General Authority for Radio and Television in Syria. Fouad Ghazi was renowned for his powerful mountain voice and for writing many emotional, popular, and patriotic songs that shaped the history of Syrian music in the 1980s. He began his singing career sporadically until he had the opportunity to collaborate with Syrian composer Abdel Fattah Sukkar on the song Lazra'lk Bstan Wurud, which became a great success. He worked with most of the prominent Syrian composers, including Said Qutb and Suhail Arafa, and also contributed to several films, including the Syrian film Haret Al 'Anater. He was affectionately nicknamed the "King of Attaba" and "Karwan al-Jabal (The Mountain Nightingale)".
