A Compilation featuring a collection of songs by the Syrian artist Rafiq Shukri (1923-1969), a Syrian singer who achieved wide fame in the 1950s and was one of the founders of Damascus Radio. He began his artistic career as an oud player, singing for love, family and the Syrian national cause. He performed Oath of Return, an anthem to the Palestinian people following the 1948 war. He also sang Anthem of Jihad by Suleiman Al-Issa and a poem by Nizar Qabbani, and composed for great artists such as Karawan and Mary Jubran. He worked for the Voice of the Arabs radio in Egypt, the Near East Radio in Haifa, Palestine and Baghdad Radio, in addition to his work at Damascus Radio from1947 until his death in 1969.
