Hassan Al Tanari, born in 1960 in the Syrian city of Maarat al-Numan, and was a revered artist and a masterful qanun player who resided in Aleppo. He studied at the Arab Institute of Music from 1968 to 1973, where he graduated with distinction. Despite his young age, He joined the Artists Guild in Syria in 1976 where he eventually assumed the role of band leader. Among his most famous collaborations, Al Tanari worked with singer Sabah Fakhry, between 1979 and 1995. Throughout his career, Al Tanari graced numerous prestigious festivals with his performances, including the Mediterranean Arab Music Center Festival in Tunisia, the Arab Institute of Music Festival in 2001 in Paris, and the Concertoire Music Festival in 2003 in Lebanon, as well as music festivals in Egypt, Turkey, and Algeria. Al Tanari's musical legacy lives on through his compositions and recorded tracks, many of which can be found in the Aleppo Radio archive, serving as a testament to his enduring influence on the Syrian musical landscape.
