More Info

This cassette includes some of the most famous songs by retired 1980s Lebanese pop star Adonis Akel, such as Yam El Shal Al Ennabi (The Girl with The Burgundy Scarf) which the cassette is named after, and Shiki Shiki Baba which was frequently broadcast on Lebanese radio and TV stations in the eighties. Adonis Akel, a native of Zahle in Lebanon, emerged on the Lebanese pop scene in the early eighties, and his music formed a bridge between the Fairuz-Rahbani influenced Lebanese pop generation and the pop of the nineties and early 2000s with its stars from Najwa Karam to Nancy Ajram. His songs combined artistic seriousness with accessibility to the ear, traditional vocals with a playful tone, making his music a meeting point for two different generations of listeners. Adonis retired sometime between the late eighties and early nineties.
