More Info
This tape documents a wedding celebration in the village of Qimas in Jabal Al Zawiya in rural Idlib, performed by Aleppian singer Ibrahim Al Saad accompanied by a traditional Syrian shaabi band. The tape is distinguished by a high level of harmony between the pulsing drums and the interweaving melodies of the rababa and keyboards, alongside Ibrahim Al Saad's rough, undulating voice that complements his accompanying instruments. The city of Aleppo and its rural villages know Ibrahim Al Saad's name well, as he has been singing at wedding celebrations since the late nineties, performing attaba in particular. These celebrations often brought him together with another singer such as Ahmad Telawi and Hameed Al Furati and others to perform attaba together in the form of a dialogue in front of large audiences.
