More Info

This tape presents a 1980s instrumental take on the extensive repertoire of Egyptian singer Shadia (1931-2017). The modernized arrangements, arranged by by composer Sami Al-Ansari, focus on the most prominent songs of Shadia’s career, which peaked in the 1960s. Utilizing electronic keyboards, Al-Ansari’s arrangements retell the music of Shadia in an instrumental “light music” format that was popular at the time. As the use of the electric organ and synthesizer increased in Egypt, so did the number of similar-themed tributes to classic Arabic composers and singers.
