More Info

This tape is one of a series released in the early 2000s by Sawt El Ghad, a small Suweida based recording company. It’s a series that features prominently in Syrian Cassette Archives. Aside from the diversity of musical genres and artists represented, the series is a notable document of musical heritage from the Houran region in southern Syria. The series chronicles recordings of songs that are known, memorized, and recited by the majority of the people from the Houran, heard in the distinct dialect of the area.
