More Info

Ahmed Suleiman Al-Ahmad (aka: Ahmed Al-Samer) was born 5 January, 1970 in Hassake, Ras al-Ain, Al-Buwaidah village in northeastern Syria. He began his artistic career singing at wedding parties in the early 1990s and made his first recordings with Ramon productions in Ras Al Ain, operated by producer Zuhir Yacoub. Through these productions he built a name in the region, and after several cassettes, started to become known in other provinces as well.

Aside from being a singer, Al-Samer also had a talent for poetry. In 1996, as singer Omar Souleyman began his career, Al-Samer began collaborating with him as a poet - standing by Omar’s side at parties, whispering lyrics in the singer’s ear as he sang, as was the tradition.  Later, Al-Samer met and began working with legendary singer Saad Al-Harbawi. Together, they collaborated on several notable cassette productions. Al-Samer has worked extensively in collaboration with musician Rizan Said on several projects – as well as regionally known artists such as poet Shawakh Al-Ahmad, musicians Mohamed Moussa, Salah Halil, the late Ali Al-Hassan and Abdel Samad Hashem. Al-Samer has appeared on numerous cassette productions and video clips and continues to perform at parties, most recently in Urfa, Turkey.
