More Info

Turki Al-Abed is one of the few shaabi singers to have come from Raqqa. He sang at a number of weddings in the city during the early 2000s. This recording is an example of the archetypal live dabke sound from the period, driven primarily by a keyboard loaded with regionally-produced preset patches. Sessions like these were often recorded straight to cassette from the mixing board at top volume, and quickly made available for sale at cassette stalls.
