Abdul-Jabbar Al-Daraji was born in Baghdad in 1936, where his artistic career began. He performed his first song on Iraqi state radio in 1959, which he also composed and wrote. He continued to sing and compose for himself and other artists throughout his career, which lasted until the early 2000s. Al-Daraji died in the Jordanian capital of Amman in 2015, leaving behind a great musical legacy that influenced and changed the shape of the modern Iraqi song.
