Iraqi artist Ghezlan was born in Basra and lived her life between Iraq and Jordan. Her career started in the early nineties, and she had the opportunity to sing on national Iraqi television with the support of distinguished artists such as Saadi Al-Hilli. She also acted in a number of successful plays in Iraq during the nineties. She actively performs live concerts to this day.
On this album, traditional Iraqi folk music arrangements, rhythms and instrumentation - including the distinctive sound of the kashaba percussion heard across the first few tracks - combine to meet the contemporary Arabic and Iraqi pop sounds of the early 2000s.
